Dating Rant Number Two Continued

I have more. Enjoy the horror show.

Read: You're old and pathetic. I have my two bffs to be gay with when you mysteriously shoot me down.

Again. A boy looking for chick but strangely surrounded by dudes. I do not understand.

And again.

Obviously.

Pretty sure that's the same thing Dahmer said to the people he met, too.

Dating Rant Number Two.

I’ve walked away from online dating.

‘What!?” you gasp. “How could you do such a thing! It was so much fun.”

 No, it wasn’t.

As you read from my last dating rant, I went into this thing with a fairly open mind. I told several of my friends my game plan, my mother and I had a discussion about it (yep, she read that blog post. She’ll eventually read this one too. Hi, Mom!), I really gave it a good effort.

Then, last weekend a friend of mine brought it up and I realized I had been on the site for a year. A YEAR. I put up with that thing longer than I stuck to my Writing Every Day blog. Ugh. This single fact broke my heart. A year. Three hundred and sixty-five days of reading stupid profiles and emails from complete losers. My standards may be too high. I use MAY with a lot of leeway in there.

Just as I was getting ready to hit the ‘Delete Account’ button I thought, you know, girl, you’ve put up with a year’s worth of humiliation on this thing. You may as well stay a member for one more day and get some good blog fodder.

So that’s what I did! I found so many guys on there whose profiles just blew my mind. I found a guy (sadly, I couldn’t find him again to snag a screenshot) who had one of those awesome 70s-era portraits of him and his cat. Remember the trend in pictures to have a portrait taken, and then someone imposed a ghost-like  second portrait hovering over the shoulder? This guy had a portrait of him, sitting there, smiling like a geek, and his cat watching over his shoulder, looking down with awe and amazement. I’m not even kidding.

So, as a final goodbye to online dating, I’ve compiled the best images I found in my digital journey. Keep in mind that each member has full control of what images they upload, and the headline geared to reel in the fish. Enjoy.

(Just a note...these pics are from a public website, so I don't have guilt for posting them on another one.)
Are you? Are you so awesome that it's the first thing you have to tell me?

I think you're looking for someone on the 'wrong team'....

"...because THIS guy left me."

"Because I've been lied to twice before."

"...who can post a pikture."

No response needed.

2011

So, I usually write a rant at the end of the year going off about how I’m going to change and how things never go as I expect. This year, I think I’m going to spew out optimism instead.

The optimism comes because a woman I work with, who is usually overly cheerful, super social, and always extremely happy said something out of character the other day. As she wished me a happy new year, she said something to the effect that the next year simply must be better than the last, that it was the worst year ever and she just couldn’t do it again. Hmm. Strange. She always seemed so….content.

She walked out of the office and her works stuck. I’ve had my share of pretty average years. I have yet to have a year that I wouldn’t want to repeat, though. And, in all honesty, 2011 kicked some major ass in my little world. I have a list of awesome things that occurred last year that still blow my mind a little when I think about them. My big worry with 2012 is that it will be a disappointment after the year I just had. I can’t imagine so many cool things happening again. Like the house. I bought a HOUSE. I’ve lived there three months and it is still a surprise how cool I think it is. I look at projects I want to do and I just get excited. This is MY house.

And the Jeep! My new(ish) Jeep, Rufous. Oh, I love that thing. He’s amazing. I can’t not grin when I think about my Jeep.

Same thing happens when I think about hockey. I can’t NOT smile. And if you ask me one question about hockey, I’ll talk and talk and talk until you just walk away. And then I may follow you and talk about it some more.

I seriously could not ask for more out of a single year of my life. And after the last rant I posted, who knew I could be so content. I’m still not dating anyone (when I even think about going out with a person, I get a mild case of heartburn. No, thanks), but I like that, too. Freedom!

So here’s to another year. I have my fingers crossed and a cheesy grin on my face.
